Hi sweet family! Let me just express how much yesterday meant to me to see all of your faces and hear your voices! The kids are growing up WAY too fast and that made me sad haha but all of you look like you are doing wonderfully! I was happy to see each of you for a few seconds so thanks Jacque for making that work out! You are all so great!
This week was hard to focus on my mission and being here since I knew I would be skyping you all this week. But I prayed a lot for help to focus and be dedicated and I was! I worked so hard all week and as a result I am SOO tired but so happy! One of our members taught us a really cool thing about not losing sight of our purpose. The first words that the Savior said and were recorded in the Bible were: "Here am I, send me!" He had a willing heart and was ready to go to work! The first words recorded once He was on the earth were " I must be about my Father's business!" He was dedicated to doing the Lord's will and blessing others. His last words were "It is finished. Thy will is done." What an awesome example I have to follow! He never lost sight of what He was doing or who He was! He remained dedicated during His whole mission. That is the missionary I want to be! I have shown my willingness to serve by submitting papers and accepting my call to Slovenia! And now I must be about my Father's business and doing His will continually. I love serving here and each day i hope to be better than the last.
This week was pretty different than other weeks I have had here because we traveled to Kranj for return and report, had a huge concert, and Skyped our families! So let's start with return and report! This is an opportunity each of us 7 new missionaries have to report on how training is going! We each took turns to bear our testimonies and say how we have grown in the last 7 weeks! Then we had to teach a 5 minute lesson in our language in front of everyone. Ugh... haha I was super nervous for some reason! So when it was my turn I asked the Mission President what lesson I would be teaching and he said "The Gospel of Jesus Christ"... AKA THE HARDEST ONE TO TEACH!!!!! At that moment my heart dropped and I knew I would be teaching by the Spirit because I had no idea what to say haha. But I did it, and it was AWESOME!!!!!! I was super comfortable the second I started and the Spirit was there. I asked questions, taught doctrine, introduced baptism, invited, committed, and bore testimony... all in Slovene. It was so great! President told me that I had such great focus and eye contact and I spoke very happily. Everyone said that I did so great! So that was happy! At the end of the day, president Grant surprised us with a trip to Lake Bled!!!!!!!!! WHAT?!?! SOO exciting! SO we drove to Bled and walked around the beautiful fairy tale lake and looked at all the pretty castles and then president got us all the world famous Bled Cake! SO GOOD!!! Overall, return and report was such a good experience and I got to see my old companions and everyone who was with me at the MTC so that was really cool! We have all grown SOO much! I also got a letter from Madi! It made my day! Thank you for writing me everyone! It sure brightens up my week!
Most of our week was spent running errands for our concert! This was a missionary finding activity that we put together and it took a lot of effort on our part! If I am nothing else at the end of this mission, I can organize a very successful event! It was pretty stressful as we made programs, practiced with mics, spent hours making treats, and just doing all the little things that have to be done! The day before, I remember feeling stressed and I got down on my knees and said OK please bless us for our efforts! We need more people to teach! So that night... in our church we had 48 people come!!!!! UNHEARD OF!!!!!! That many people in our church?!?! What is this?!?! It was SUCH a beautiful sight! We were sooooo happy! More than half of the crowd were not members! And we only had one member perform! The rest were people we met and invited to play! I sang and that was fun! It was SO good, you guys! I wish I could express how big of a deal it was! Afterward, the amazing violinist told me that I have a beautiful voice and that when I sang he felt something. He said I have a "striking innocence" about me. It was cute. The treats went well and everyone laughed at how American they were (chocolate covered strawberries are apparently not a thing here... but they were gone in about 2 seconds so... you know) Overall we were SO blessed for our efforts and it was such a cool experience! Everyone who came said that they wish they would have brought their friends and family and to let them know when we have another one! The next morning one of the members texted us and told us how she had never seen anything like that before and how much it meant to her and the branch! So great!
Skyping home was such a cool experience. I wish I could describe the emotions and feelings I had as I heard the ring from the computer and waited with my heart racing and suddenly a small ruffle and there was my mom on the other end. Ugh! It was the most beautiful sight haha. My emotions were so crazy all day as I thought about what I should tell them or how I would feel after. It was such a great conversation! Mom and dad you had such great questions! I was happy to teach you how to pronounce Celje and share some experiences! Oh guys it was so great! I cant even express my emotions as I got a second with each of my siblings and their cute kids. I loved seeing everyone. The hardest part was saying goodbye! I didn't want it to come. Homesickness is a real thing on the mission haha. SO I cried haha but after I hung up I got myself together in about a minute so it was okay! Thanks for crying with me haha I felt loved!
This week was so good. I loved speaking to you and hearing your voices and seeing your smiles! I am so greatful for that opportunity! It was an answer to many prayers! I am doing my best to be dedicated and focused and I am seeing the blessings that come from it! I hope you all are recognizing the blessings every day in your lives as well! I love you all SOO much! Have a great week!
