(WOW! Holly sent some BEAUTIFUL photos from her P-day this week, make sure to check them out!)
Hi hi family!!
After another miracle week in Slovenia, I am still the happiest missionary in the world. God is SO aware of His children! And He surely blesses His missionaries.
I won't keep you all waiting on what happened for transfers. I have a new companion! I have talked about her before. I will be serving with Sister R.!!! I almost cried, I was so excited when I saw her picture and mine together. She is seriously an amazing missioanry with so much faith and a love of work. She knows the language so well and I know I am going to learn so much from her. The best part about transfers.... I AM STAYING IN CELJE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Like I said, world's happiest missionary. I have been on cloud 9 since I found on Thursday that I would still be serving in this place I love with Sister R. It is going to be the best transfer. I could not be more excited and motivated. God is so aware of me!
Last week, we had the privilege to use our P-day to discover an absolutely breath taking portion of Slovenia. I wish all of you could have been there. There are no words to describe it or photos to do it justice. I live in a fairy tale. We went to see a river named SOCA. Portions of the Narnia and Lord of the Rings movies were filmed there. We started off the morning very early and the weather was PERFECT! A crisp cold morning that made me want to go camping so badly haha. We drove up toward Austria by Kranj and Lake Bled. I love driving this way because suddenly you go, "Oh! there are the Alps." I love looking out my window and not being able to see the top of a mountain. It is seriously stunning. The clouds were hugging the mountains and made for some awesome photos. Seeing the Alps makes you just sit at AWE at what God has created. This world is perfect! The road we took, took us right next to Triglav. This is the tallest mountain in Slovenia and is one of the alps. I touched it. It was seriously HUGE and breath taking. There are no words to describe it. I felt like it was going to eat me. But I was in constant awe at how huge and beautiful it was. As we came out through the alps towards the SOCA valley, the views were impecable. It is so green here, first off! I literally live in Narnia. The fog... perfect. After a long stunning ride, we arrived in the town of Bovecs and we went hiking around to all of the amazing waterfalls and gorges. It was perfect you guys. The weather was very cold haha it was 14! We were literally in the alps which made it SO cool haha. It was so weird to be cold but I LOVED it. I miss that feeling haha. It was a rainy day which fit the cute ski town perfectly. The whole time I was there I was just imagining skiing down these alps! You could see the ski trails and the lifts and I could picture my dad and I going down them haha. I don't know how to describe the SOCA river.. but there is a reason it is so famous. IT IS BREATHTAKING! Seriously life changing. The water is crystal clear. I could have drank it. SO SO CLEAR! And at deeper parts, it is BLUE! Like... you have to look at the photos. When I first saw it, I thought it was fake. AHHH I live in such an amazing place. It was honestly beyond words, it was so perfect. Everything about exploring the SOCA valley was beyond words. I had the most perfect P-day. On the way home, we drove through a little town called Nova Gorica. If you look that up on a map, you will see where in Slovenia I was haha. We drove up to a look-out point at the top of the mountain someone told us about and just took in the view of Italy. I LOVE ITALY! It is so cute. SO many grape vineyards. It looked amazing! Sometimes, it hits me. I am literally in Slovenia, Europe on a mission. I LIVE here. This is home! The entire day last Monday was one of those times. It felt like a dream. It was beyond perfect and a day I will never forget. I love sLOVEnia.
For those of you keeping track back at home, HAPPY 6 MONTHS SISTER HIGGINS!!!! Haha, this last week I celebrated my 6 months. I was really emotional the night before for some reason but it made for a rocking journal entry hahahaha. To celebrate, we spent our dinner hour at our favorite restaurant here in Celje (it is a meat place that has meat the closest to American so all the missionaries crave this place) and the Elders joined us since I have been serving now for 6 months with one of them who we are now sadly separated from because of transfers. But he has been with me my whole mission (and we have the same birthday...weird). The Sisters from Ljubliana happened to be in town so they came as well. It was so much fun. It was weird to reflect on time. It literally flies on a mission. Yet, I have grown and done so much that it's hard to believe it has only been 6 months. It was a great day and I was happy. My sweet trainer got me a gift and wrote me the best note... and I just so happened to get a package from Sister Sasser! She sent me gold fish. It was a great way to celebrate a hard 6 months and to make goals for the next 12.
One funny thing that happened this week -- we were teaching a member (one who I happen to totally adore) and it had been about 15 minutes so we were still just chatting and enjoying being together. I looked over to my companion, Sister E. and get a glimpse of her back... which is COVERED in bugs. Evidentally, I am not to good at hiding my emotions and she made eye contact with me and instantly knew there was something wrong. So, I started the lesson and she just stared at me trying to figure out what was wrong. When the member wasn't looking, I mouthed the words "You are COVERED in bugs!" The fear on her face made me giggle and I taught the lesson while she squirmed around. I was giggling the whole time. I am glad the message was happy or it would have been weird. It was seriously the funniest night ever. The second we walked out of her apartment building I was laughing. Missions are fun.
I am currently sitting by my new companion. This morning, I drove to Maribor and dropped off Sister E. and picked up Sister R. I happened to get on to my email before heading to Maribor and I took pictures of all my emails. I spent the next hour in the car reading my emails. I cried and laughed. I seriously cannot thank you all enough for the world's best emails. I look forward to them. I especially loved this week seeing all of you together. That made me so happy.
So yeah, still another perfect week on a mission. I love my mission. I could not be happier right now. Transfers were a dream. I am so excited to work with Sister R. Celje is ready for a miracle and I know by trusting in the Lord this transfer, we can make it happen. I am looking forward to hard work this week and lots of learning. You guys... I am so happy. Thanks for the prayers. I feel them. I love you all! With all I have!
