Hi family!
How does one express their love for Slovenia? I can't with words. I LOVE it here. Every day I wake up in a beautiful country! Who else does that? Okay, a lot of people, but still, I love this place. This week I was able to go to Ljubljana twice and on the drive there, you see the Alps covered in snow and rolling hills with little churches and villages.... God sent us the most incredible sunsets this week at just the perfect time.... Even in winter, Slovenia is incredible!
For P-day last week, we cleaned. DEEP CLEANED! Missionary apartments can get interesting. So we took our free time and dedicated it to making our house a place of refuge and peace where the Spirit can dwell. We worked hard at making it clean and found SUCH joy in waking up to a nice clean apartment or coming home at the end of the day and seeing it be so CLEAN! It is rarely messy at my apartment but this is the first time it's just been this clean. Mom would be so proud.
Yesterday we were out tracting after church and we rang on the domophone and were let into the gate of this house. Well, I was turned around closing the gate when sister Nydegger said OH! I turned around and saw a big ol' dog running towards us. Luckily it was a nice happy dog... but for the rest of that contact, I felt literally weak in the knees. I have had enough experiences with dogs on my mission to qualify me to say that I definitely hate dogs haha. My poor kids.
We had zone conference this week! SO GOOD! I always love zone conferences. I don't know what I will ever do without them! I'll probably have to start attending devotionals or firesides more often or something haha. But as always, I was motivated to live and share the gospel and it was great to see all my Slovenian missionaries.
A topic that has been on my mind for a few days has been MERCY! I have come to understand it in a very personal way on my mission. I love it. I have felt his mercy countless times here and I know it is real. I found the quote "Live and Let Live," and I realized that if we expect forgiveness... if we expect to be able to progress... if we expect mercy, WE TOO MUST GIVE IT! I am so thankful for the people in my life who have shown me mercy and allowed me to apply the atonement and progress.
Have peace with one another!
