Hi hi family! WE ARE GROWING!
Quick shout-out to the new nephew! I am so excited for you Tiffany! I am going to be honest.... I had NO CLUE when you were due so this was quite the shock to me! Familes are the best, so I could not be happier to be coming home to a bigger one than I left hahahaha. Such an exciting week, and I could not be more thankful that everyone is healthy and happy!
This week was one of miracles... as all are in the field. I love everything about being a missionary! I literally felt like this week was a blink of an eye, it went SO fast! As they all are starting to do... so that makes for a shorter email this week since it was mostly just awesome work haha.
We filled our schedules this week with so many great things... which led to our meal times becoming back-up plans. I LOVED having so much to do but losing 7 pounds in a week was a little intense. My companion and I both LOVE to work and have fun and it has been the best thing to work by her side this week. We met so many awesome people who still talk to us every time we see them around center.
Not sure if I ever mentioned this before but the oven in Celje doesn't work... so I have been getting brownies from home and not being able to cook them. Well, I finally did it! I took some that my cute sister Shanda sent me and made them at our branch coordination leader's apartment. They were so good and made me so happy. Slovenes don't eat much sugar so I am not used to it and Sister R. and I felt it in our veins for about 3 days. But it was worth it! So thank you!
One really awkward moment... sleeping comes really easily on a mission. I am typically so tired I can hardly breathe by the end of the day. But one night this week I had a lot of my mind so I just laid in my bed and looked around... It was dark and I thought my companion was asleep. Suddenly, the whole room lit up with light and I thought I was having a Joseph Smith moment and an angel was coming to talk to me... turns out it was just the phone saying it was done charging. But I had sat straight up which confused my companion... anyways. We laughed about that for a while. This week was awesome... but no angels.
We tried something new! I love doing new things to find people to teach. We went chalking! Down by the river, there is a beautiful path where people go walking all the time. So, we took some chalk and drew the Plan of Salvation and took people on tours. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN! I was giddy the whole time talking about my favorite part of the gospel. FAMILIES!!!! And the fact that we get to live together forever. I LOVE the Plan of Salvation and I think people could tell haha. Doing new things in missionary work is important and also so much fun.
After tracting on Saturday, we were walking home along a lonely road and it was raining a little... Sister R. and I both like to stay focused on what we are doing so we can have the Spirit with us more strongly. So we have been memorizing hymns in Slovene (really not that hard when you have 46.) So walking home at sunset we were singing at the top of our lungs "I Know that My Redeemer Lives" and "Come, Come ye Saints" in Slovene. I don't know why... I just felt the Spirit so strongly and I was really happy. I love singing about our Savior, and I love Slovene.
The best day this week was probably yesterday. The temple trip for our mission was this last week and 3 members from our branch were able to find money to go. When they walked into the room on Sunday they were greeted with so many hugs and tears and people asking how it was. They were all invited to stand and bear their testimony on their experiences at the temple. Hearing them talk about the temple made me miss it SO much! I think that is what I miss the most. But I loved hearing about their experiences. There was nothing more exciting to me this week than knowing they were at the temple! I love these people so much and that is all I want for them. It almost had me in tears. Everyone was so excited to just hear about the temple. The Spirit was really strong all sacrament meeting as the 3 who had gone were just BEAMING!
While tracting yesterday about 12 miles from home in a cute little village, we got caught in a massive rain storm. I know better than to just "wait it out" in Slovenia because it never stops. So, we walked home in pouring rain with no umbrellas. We were giggling the whole time and again singing in Slovene. It was a lot of fun... until a huge semi drove by and it was literally like getting hit by a wave... That was followed by 8 other times of the same thing. We were laughing so hard. It is missionary life and that would happen to us. I am not sure why we were so happy. But we were. And my hair is still wet today. I love rain in Slovenia!
Like I said before, this week was mostly just working. Sorry I don't have more. I love you all and I am SOOO excited that I have a new nephew to meet! He looks darling! I am glad you are all happy and healthy! That is all I pray for! You all mean so much to me! Thanks for all you are doing for me! I LOVE YOU!
